Previously, i've described Time as one of the most important factors in our lives. Even though we cannot really control it, just make use of the "little bit" of it that we are given. In that case, there are a lot of sayings that have to do with time... probably being the most popular one: "time is gold". And I assure you, Time IS gold (people get paid by the hour don't they? haha ;) )
In any case, what I'm thinking about today is... what is "worth" our time nowadays? I mean, with jobs, for example, it's pretty easy to decide (What's more entertaining to me and has an "attractive"salary is definitely the best option) But what happens when it comes to everyday stuff? Moral stuff, relationships, friendships, entertainment and all that ? Is there even a "rule" for picking out that which is worth our time?
So, it got me thinking. Out of 16-18 productive hours we have per day, how much of it do we waste on worthless things? Job/school take out about 7-8 hours a day (but that should be considered productive in my opinion... u get either money or knowledge which is good) . So that leaves us with 9-10 hours for ourselves. Let's say we eat out and that's 2 hours off from our day. 6-8 hours for ourselves... seems pretty good doesn't it??
However, out of those hours, most people spend from 2-4 hours (maybe even more) on facebook/msn/twitter/whatever... So that leaves us with pretty much 4 hours to do all of the following:
- Work (or homework) for the next day.
- Cleaning.
- Exercise.
- Movies (or other type of entertainment).
- Dedicating time to your significant other.
- Feedback on your day to see what could've been improved.
- To-do list for next day.
No, haha, It's not a magic word or some sort of weird thing. It is simply a really long word for describing something as "worthless". So let's evaluate. Facebook/msn/twitter/whatever... (Yes, I'm messing with them...) How much REAL productive time do you spend on it everyday? I'd say... tops... an hour... and I'm probably exaggerating. So, try it out. Try to spend only one hour a day on the fore mentioned. And VOILÁ! You magically have 3 extra hours in your day. Magical, huh?
Bottom line is, there are a DOZEN more interesting ways to spend our time than procrastinating. For example, when was the last time you went to a museum? Even if it was to a Pixar expo or something or even ice-skating with a friend (at least you exercise a little while you do it AND you have fun :D). So if u decide your day needs more hours, start to chop off some procrastination time and see what happens =)
